Rescue her
No single person can drive an organization, profit or non-profit, to the point of true impact without a dedicated team with single mission minded focus on the conviction they are all set to answer and Rescue Her is no different. However, a single person can become the heartbeat, the soul of an organization. A single person who is willing and able to bear the weight of doing hard things, making hard choices, steering the ship, and with unmistakable confidence sets the course towards something new and uncharted.
Rescue Her has just such a person. Sarah Phillips, the Director of Rescue Her, is a woman with a mission. While studying at Texas Tech earning a degree in Community, Family, & Addiction Services, Sarah worked on a project about prostitution and sex trafficking. She learned that human trafficking wasn’t just an international problem that only happened in other countries, but that it occurs here in our own communities. She began interning with Rescue Her almost 11 years ago. After interning for six months, she was hired to open a safe home for trafficked youth in Chennai, India, as part of the organization’s international efforts to combat human trafficking. Upon returning to the United States, Sarah worked as an Advocate for the organization and took on the Director role in early 2020.
Sarah did not come to this kind of work easily. She never could have imagined that she would be fighting for people’s lives in such a prominent way. Faith was her solid point, the steel in the spine and the gravity that held her feet to the ground. “My faith is why I do what I do.” Sarah learned through the example of her parents who were naturally inclusive of other people and created opportunities to serve alongside them in different ways. Sarah learned to acknowledge “a person’s worth and inherent dignity and developed the eyes to recognize injustice when someone’s inherent worth wasn’t being upheld or honored or respected.”
Under Sarah’s direction, she and the incredible team of women that are the backbone of Rescue Her are doing something few if any other anti-trafficking non-profits have ever done. Rescue Her is not only serving woman in crisis, in that moment, they have also formally partnered with the Homeland Security Investigations led North Texas Trafficking Task Force (NTTTF). The NTTTF is a comprised of federal, state, and local law enforcement whose sole responsibility is to investigate sex trafficking and present cases for federal and state prosecution. The Rescue Her team and the NTTTF work together as partners in the NTTTF multi-disciplinary care team where victims of human trafficking are offered long-term restorative options to exit exploitation. Rescue Her partners with the NTTTF to ensure sex-trafficking rings are dismantled and the women trapped in them are offered recovery care and have long-term restorative options.
The 3Seven Ventures knows of no other organization who are active participants and partners with the federal government as it works to prosecute sex-traffickers and we could not be more excited to be in partnership with them.
As with the other anti-trafficking organizations we desire to support and partner with, we invite you to visit Rescue Her to learn more about them, their varied programs, and how you are able to support and serve them.
